Title
Group Tax Manager (Multi-Jurisdictional)
Why This Role Exists
We're building Yomali's first dedicated tax function. Today, tax compliance and risk across our entities sit largely with our Group CFO and external advisors — this role exists to own that properly, close blind spots, and support the tax-efficient structuring of our growth and M&A activity.
What You'll Own
Full-spectrum tax ownership across our entities in Ireland, Malta, the UK and beyond:
Corporation tax, indirect tax (VAT/GST) and payroll/employer tax compliance
Managing our outsourced indirect-tax provider and external tax advisor relationships
Identifying and remediating tax exposure and risk across jurisdictions
Contributing to tax strategy: jurisdiction structuring, M&A due diligence, entity planning
What Success Looks Like
30-60 days: Up to speed on the business; UK entity reviewed.
3-6 months: Ireland and Malta reviewed; known blind spots resolved; indirect-tax vendor relationship under control.
12 months: Full multi-jurisdiction tax position documented and defensible; compliance and horizon-scanning processes embedded; early contribution to tax strategy.
What We're Looking For
5-7+ years' progression to Tax Manager level
Broad, generalist tax expertise spanning corporation tax, indirect tax (VAT/GST) and payroll tax — not a single-tax specialist
Genuine experience working across multiple international jurisdictions
An autonomous, self-directed researcher, comfortable investigating unfamiliar jurisdictions independently
Confidence to challenge external tax advisors rather than accept advice at face value
Non-financial-services background preferred; CTA / AITI CTA / ACCA+MIT / ADIT all valued
Who Thrives Here
Autonomous, curious, and unafraid to challenge received wisdom. Comfortable building a function from scratch in an ambiguous, fast-moving, multi-entity environment. A pragmatic problem-solver, not a box-ticker.
Why People Stay/Love Working Here
Direct access to and partnership with the Group CFO. Genuine ownership of a function you're building from the ground up. Real strategic exposure — M&A and entity structuring — not just compliance admin.
What's In It For You
Autonomy to shape the tax function end-to-end
A growth path toward a Head of Tax-style remit as the company scales
Competitive pay and perks
Exposure to a fast-moving, international, acquisitive group
Interview Process
1: Screening call
2: Technical/competency interview
3: CFO interview
4: Leadership panel
About the Company
Yomali is a privately held conglomerate that builds, buys, and grows software and e-commerce businesses — self-funded, with no outside investors and no exit pressure driving the decisions. We operate on a permanent capital model, which means we're playing the long game: sustainable growth, preservation of culture, and operational excellence over short-term scaling for a quick sale.
The group is genuinely decentralized: 10+ autonomous business units — including BuyGoods (eCommerce marketplace), HelpGrid (shopping cart abandonment / customer support), MaxWeb (affiliate network), and SmartFluent, among others — each with its own dedicated CEO, management team, brand, and business model. It's less "one company" and more a family of entrepreneurial businesses sharing infrastructure, capital, and best practice.
We're a team of 600+ people spread across 32 countries, fully remote-first — our people work from anywhere with an internet connection, by design, not as a pandemic-era afterthought. Collectively, our businesses drive over $1 billion in annual online sales volume, spanning eCommerce, fintech (merchant accounts, chargeback mitigation, asset-based lending), treasury (capital, equities, real estate), and an early-stage incubator building AI agents and workflow automation.
